Zamalek manager Jose Gomez has emphasised that his team will improve for the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final in Cairo.

The Egyptian giants lost the first leg in Morocco 2-1 at the hands of hosts RS Berkane this past Sunday evening.

Issoufou Dayo and Adil Tahif put Berkane two goals up, but the White Knight gave themselves a foothold in the tie thanks to Tunisian striker Seifeddine Jaziri. The second leg will be played in Cairo on Sunday 19 May.

“I am not satisfied with our performance in the first half. We received two goals early in the game and the second goal came from a free kick. This is unacceptable. We wanted to play good football and achieve a better result,” said Gomez after the match.

The Zamalek boss added “We will play a better game in Cairo. We will try to dominate the game but we know it will not be an easy mission against RS Berkane but we will do our best and we hope to be the champions.”

RS Berkane defender Tahif, who scored his side’s second goal, believes the Moroccan team will return from Cairo with the trophy.

“I am very happy to score and help my team but the most important is that we won the first leg. I would like to thank our fans for their fantastic support and we promise them that we will return with the cup to Morocco,” Tahif explained.

Zamalek fans are expected to pack Cairo Stadium in hope of a repeat of the 2019 Confederation Cup final when they overturned a one-goal deficit to defeat RS Berkane and clinch the title.
