Coaches have reacted to Sunday’s night CAF Confederation Cup final first-leg clash between RS Berkane and Zamalek.
It was the Moroccan side Berkane who emerged victorious as they claimed a 2-1 win over Egyptian giants Zamalek at the Berkane Municipal Stadium in Morocco.
Berkane head coach Mouin Chaabani believes that they can get a positive result against Zamalek in Egypt if they rectify the mistakes they made in the first-leg encounter.
“I am happy with the home win which was attributed to a very good first half that we had, though there was visible laxity in the second half, which is something we have to improve on,” the Tunisian tactician said on CAF Online.
“We are going to Egypt, and we know it will not be an easy game. We have to change our strategy and ensure we rectify our mistakes to be able to get positive results.”
Sharing his disappointment post the loss, Zamalek coach José Gomes attributed the loss to a poor start, adding that they would need to be well prepared for the return leg in Cairo
“I am not happy with the way we started the game and not happy with how we conceded goals. I can’t say we played badly, but we didn’t play as we wanted,” the Portuguese tactician said.
“We prepared well for this game to come and win. Now we will have to prepare for the next game in Cairo, and we hope for a better game”, said Gomes.
Zamalek will host Berkane at the Cairo International Stadium on 19 May.
