Togo will look to put pressure on the Group B frontrunners when they face South Sudan in a 2026 World Cup qualifier at the Stade de Kegue in Lome on Wednesday, June 5.

Kick-off is at 6pm CAT (SA, GMT+2)

The group remains wide open after two matches as the six teams are separated by just three points, with Senegal and Sudan leading the way on four apiece.

The Sparrowhwaks are still unbeaten and trail the group leaders by two points in fourth place after playing out to successive draws against the Secretarybirds (1-1) and the Lions of Teranga (0-0).

Paulo Duarte’s side have a formidable record on home soil, going undefeated in their last 11 games since Namibia ran out 1-0 victors in a 2022 World Cup qualifier on 5 September 2021 in Lome.

The Bright Stars prop up the group on goal difference as they are tied with Mauritania on one point after both teams made a winless start to proceedings in November.

Nicolas Dupuis’ side suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat at the hands of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations champions before picking up their first point with a 0-0 draw against the Lions of Chinguetti.

This will be the first meeting between the two nations in any capacity and South Sudan could make a big statement by bringing an end to Togo’s impressive unbeaten home run.
