After commencing their recent CAF 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on a positive note, Malawi will aim to record two wins on the trot in Group H next week when they take on Equatorial Guinea at Nuevo Estadio de Malabo on Monday afternoon.
Kick-off is at 3:00pm CAT
The Flames, as they’re affectionately known, head into their next qualifier on the back of a 3-1 win against Sao Tome at the Bingu National Stadium last week Thursday.
As a result of their most recent result, Malawi moved up to 3rd in Group H, after accumulating six points after three matches played.
Prior to their victory against Sao Tome, the Flames bagged a 1-0 win against Liberia in their first qualifier before suffering a 1-0 defeat to Tunisia in their subsequent fixture.
While Malawi have been on the up, Equatorial Guinea have battled to yield positive results in their respective qualifying assignments.
After suffering a 3-0 loss to Namibia in their initial qualifier, National Thunder then recorded a damaging 3-0 defeat to Liberia in their second fixture.
Now though, Equatorial Guinea head into their next game on the back of a 1-0 loss to Tunisia where Mohamed Ben Romadhane’s 82nd minute penalty separated the two nations at Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi last week Wednesday.
As it stands, Equatorial Guinea sit at the bottom of Group H with zero points to their name.
