Comoros brushed aside Chad 2-0 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match played at the Stade Municipal in Oujda, Morocco on Tuesday.

The Coelacanths moved to the top of the Group I standings after overcoming Les Sao who remain sixth on the table. Chad will host Ghana in March 2025 when the 2026 World Cup qualifiers resume while Comoros will play host to Mali.

The Coelacanths controlled possession well in the opening stages as they looked to break the deadlock. However, they suffered a blow when Benjaloud Youssouf went down injured and he was replaced by Adel Mahamoud in the 33rd minute.

However, Comoros continued to launch attacks as the match approached the half-time break which saw goalkeeper Gabin Allabatna produce two decent saves to keep the visitors at bay and the score was 0-0 at the interval in Oujda.

The visitors’ pressure finally paid off 14 minutes into the second-half when Myziane Maolida opened the scoring with a fine finish to hand Comoros a 1-0 lead in the 59th minute with Yacine Bourhane providing the assist.

Comoros’ 2-0 victory was then sealed by El Fardou Ben Nabouhane who hit the back of the net in the 76th minute – making it two goals in back-to-back matches for the Cyprus-based forward having also netted against Madagascar last week.
