Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has made one request regarding the immediate future of Benni McCarthy, who has been tipped to leave the Red Devils in the coming weeks.
In what was one of the biggest stories in Premier League football in the last couple of days, it was reported that United have decided to keep Ten Hag in charge of the squad for next season.
While the Dutchman’s future hung in the balance following an 8th place finish in the Premier League last season, it’s believed that Ten Hag could sign a new deal at Carrington ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Now though, according to a report in the Times, as per the Express, Ten Hag wants United to hand McCarthy a new deal as well.
The South African football legend was often praised for getting the best out of Marcus Rashford in the past, while he is considered to be a ‘positive influence’ behind the scenes.
Benni, as he is simply known, was recently linked with a move to South African PSL outfit Kaizer Chiefs after expressing his desire to get back into the coaching sphere. However, the former FC Porto man could well remain at United, as per Ten Hag’s request.
