CAF announce dates for AFCON & WAFCON

Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced dates for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.

The 2025 AFCON finals will kick off on Sunday, 21 December 2025 with the final set for Sunday, 18 January 2026 in Morocco.

While 2024 WAFCON finals have been moved from the original date of July/August 2024 and are now scheduled to be played between 5-26 July 2025 in Morocco.

African football’s governing body issued the following statement on Friday.

The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) Executive Committee (“EXCO”) today announced the dates of Africa’s most popular and competitive football competition, the CAF TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (“AFCON”) which will take place in Morocco.

The dates of the CAF TotalEnergies AFCON Morocco 2025 are:

Opening Match: Sunday 21 December 2025

Final Match: Sunday 18 January 2026

The CAF EXCO also announced the dates of the CAF TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (“WAFCON”) which is growing exponentially and will also be hosted in Morocco.

Final Match: Saturday 26 July 2025
