Newly-promoted Saudi club interested in signing Tau

Percy Tau, Al Ahly’s South African winger, is on the radar of Al Kholood, a club newly promoted to the Saudi Pro League, to join them this summer, according to reports.

The Saudi club believes that Tau will be a massive addition to their squad ahead of their first ever season in the top division of the Saudi football league.

The 30-year-old winger’s contract at Al Ahly ends in the summer of 2025, having joined the club in 2021 from Premier League side, Brighton & Hove Albion.

According to inside sources at Al Ahly, the club haven’t received any official offers for the player, but if they do, the club will discuss it with the coaching staff and the player.

The Saudi offer is not the only offer on the table for Percy as he has also received an offer to return to South Africa after six years of playing abroad since leaving Mamelodi Sundowns in 2018.

But the club that wants to bring Percy back home is Kaizer Chiefs, who consider the South African international a perfect boost to their attacking line.

Tau has enjoyed a fantastic spell at Al Ahly, having won nine domestic and continental titles, including back-to-back Champions League trophies in the last two seasons.

The winger also participated with the Red Eagles in the FIFA Club World Cup twice and played a huge role in the club’s journey to win the bronze medal in Saudi Arabia last December.

Tau’s incredible form with Al Ahly and his contribution to the club’s eleventh Champions League title earned him the Interclub Player of the Year award in 2023.
