Kohler explains surprise El Shenawy decision

Al Ahly head coach Marcel Kohler has explained why Mohamed El Shenawy was surprisedly dropped against El Dakhleya SC.
El-Shenawy is the Red Devils captain and one of the best African goalkeepers having won four CAF Champions League titles with the team.
However, Mostafa Shobeir started between the sticks as Al Ahly secured a 2-1 victory over Dakhleya in Friday night’s Egyptian Premier League match.
“El Shenawy was absent for a long period after the injury, and he participated with us and with the national team, and this represents psychological and physical pressure,” Kohler said.
“After El Shenawy’s participation, I spoke to him and said that he should get some rest to bear the pressure of the matches.
“El Shenawy is a great goalkeeper and he accepts this greatly, and he will definitely be with us next match.”
Al Ahly’s next match is against their arch-rivals Zamalek in the Cairo Derby on Tuesday.
