France women’s national team head coach Herve Renard has been linked with Nigeria’s Super Eagles coaching job.
This comes after the accomplished tactician announced that he will part ways with the French Football Federation after July-August’s Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
“It will be the last, it’s the home stretch and when we are in an international competition sometimes, it stops very quickly, whatever the date,” Renard said on News Day France.
“Once the last match is over, sometimes there is great joy but everyone goes their separate ways. I’m used to it, this will be my 11th international competition. It won’t be without a bit of emotion.
“The pride of having worn this French team uniform and finishing on a very good note. There is still a step to climb but I am sure that the French team will win a title in the short to medium term. Hoping it will be as soon as possible.”
The Super Eagles head coach job is reportedly vacant after Finidi George resigned following the team’s defeat to Benin in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier earlier this month.
The Nigerian Football Federation has set sights on Renard as they look to replace George ahead of September’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers according to AfricaSoccer.com
Renard, 55, is the only coach to win two Africa Cup of Nations with different teams having guided Zambia to the 2012 title before leading Ivory Coast to the 2015 trophy.
