Konadu parts ways with Nsoatreman FC

Nsoatreman FC have been left with egg on their faces after announcing the departure of Maxwell Konadu, who has agreed to become the new head coach at Black Leopards.

Reports had emerged on Monday that the 51-year-old tactician was set to leave the Ghana Premier League club after accepting an offer from Lidoda Duvha following his exploits this past season.

Konadu only arrived at Nana Professor Koromansa II Park in July 2023, but he turned the team’s fortunes around, guiding them to an impressive fourth-placed finish in the league and winning the MTN FA Cup.

Nsoatreman FC General Manager Eric Alagidede insisted there was no truth to the rumours linking their head coach with a move to South Africa, but his exit was confirmed less than 24 hours later.

The Nsoatre outfit urged their fans to keep calm, declaring that Konadu’s parting of ways would not derail their debut in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

“Nsoatreman Football Club has mutually agreed with head coach Maxwell Konadu to end the contractual relationship between the parties,” the club revealed in a statement on Tuesday.

“Maxwell Konadu won a historic FA Cup with the club and finished a respectable fourth position in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League. Maxwell Konadu leaves as a legend of our club and will be given a warm reception anytime he chooses to visit the Club!

“We appeal to all our cherished supporters across the country and all over the world to remain calm as management accelerates efforts to find a competent replacement for Coach Maxwell Konadu.

“Management assures all our fans and partners that the exit of Coach Maxwell Konadu will not affect the ambitions of the club in our quest to become one of the top clubs in the country and on the Continent. Our CAF Confederation Cup campaign remains intact.”
