Former Ghana technical team member George Boateng has rejoined English Championship club Coventry City as a first-term coach.

The 48-year-old is a familiar face to Coventry supporters, having played 57 games and scored 7 goals for the Club from 1998 to 1999 after a move from Feyenoord.

The retired midfielder famously netted twice as the Sky Blues won in the league against Aston Villa at Villa Park for the first time in 63 years.

“I’m thrilled to announce my return to my first love in English football, Coventry City FC! From 1998 to 2024,” Boateng, who will work under manager Mark Robbins, wrote on his official X page.

“It’s an honor to come back and work alongside Mark Robins and the entire staff. I want to express my gratitude to Coventry City FC for this incredible opportunity.”

The Ghana-born tactician represented the Netherlands on four occasions and has had coaching experience at Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa, where he was Under 18s and then Under 23s coach.

From May 2022, George was then appointed assistant coach of the Ghana national team.
