Toure makes bold AFCON & UCL claim

Côte d’Ivoire football legend Yaya Toure has given his thoughts on which trophy means more to win between the Africa Cup of Nations and the UEFA Champions League.

Toure, who is largely considered to be one of the greatest African footballers of all-time, is a past winner of both the Africa Cup of Nations and also, the illustrious UEFA Champions League.

While Toure claimed a UCL medal with Barcelona in 2009, the former Manchester City star captained Ivory Coast to continental glory in 2015. In differentiating between the two titles, Toure expressed that winning the AFCON brought him ‘total happiness’.

“Winning the CAN is stronger than winning the Champions League,” Toure told Afrique Sports, as per SNL24.

“Winning a trophy for your country is truly wonderful. Every time I won a trophy, I remained indifferent.

“But this, it’s total happiness.”
