Benin international Andreas Hountondji has sealed his transfer to English Premier League hopefuls Burnley FC.
The 22-year-old striker joined the English Championship outfit from French Ligue 2 side Caen on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
Hountondji found the back of the net 16 times in all competitions for Rodez during a loan spell with the Ligue 2 side last season.
“I feel excited! I chose to come here because of the big interest shown by the club,” Hountondji said on the club’s website.
“It’s a club that gives opportunities to young players, so this is one of the big reasons I chose to be here, and I love English football.
“I have spoken with the boss [Scott Parker] and it was quite a good discussion. We spoke about values, principles, and the way we play, it was perfect for me.”
Born in France, Hountondji was born to a Beninese father and a French mother and holds both nationalities.
He started playing for Benin in June 2023 and he has eight caps for the Cheetahs, but he is yet to score for the West African side.
