CS Sfaxien have completed the signing of Mohamed ‘Cristo’ Dhaoui from Al Ahly on a season-long loan with an option to buy.
The Tunisia international returns to his homeland after limited opportunities in the Egyptian capital despite winning five trophies.
Cristo joined the Red Eagles from hometown club Etoile du Sahel in January 2023, but went on to make just 15 appearances across all competitions during an 18-month spell.
Juventus El Arab made a move for the 21-year-old winger after he had expressed a desire to go back home, although Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca had also been in the mix to acquire his signature.
He becomes the Tunisian Professional League 1 club’s fifth off-season signing under new head coach Alexandre Santos as they bid to challenge for a first top-flight title since 2013.
Cristo’s arrival at the Taieb Mhiri Stadium was confirmed on Friday with a video showing the youngster addressing supporters in a message posted on Facebook.
