Egypt took the pragmatic approach during their 1-0 victory against Uzbekistan in their latest Men’s Football fixture at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games on Saturday evening.
Egypt made their intentions clear from the get go and often troubled the Uzbekistan backline inside the first 10 minutes of the game.
The African side’s pressure eventually paid off in the 10th minute as Ahmed Koka added his name to the scoreboard. Following a scramble inside the 18-yard-area, Muhammadqodir Khamraliyev’s clearance attempt deflected off Koko as he watched the ball sail into his own net.
Uzbekistan struggled to make the most of their scoring chances for much of the first half while Egypt were proactive in search of their second goal at the La Beaujoire Stadium.
While Uzbekistan played under the cosh during the early stages of the second 45, the likes of Zizo and Abrahim Adel came close to doubling Egypt’s advantage leading up to the hour mark.
Egypt then kicked into game managed mode during the first 15 minutes of the encounter and took the cautious approach in an attempt to see out the game unscathed.
Nevertheless, Uzbekistan were unable to make the most of Egypt holding back during the dying stages of the match as Rogerio Micale’s secured maximum points in Nantes .
