Young Africans coach Miguel Gamondi has expressed his anticipation for their preseason friendly clash with Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday afternoon.

Yanga and the South African heavyweights will meet in Bloemfontein for the Toyota Cup – a match which will see the Tanzanian team come up against a former coach in the shape of Nasreddine Nabi.

The Tunisian was in charge of Yanga from 2021 to 2023 and was recently unveiled as the new Amakhosi mentor.

“Our game against Kaizer Chiefs will be a good and competitive game, especially considering that Chiefs have a new coach,” Gamondi said, as quoted by The Guardian.

“Every player will have a chance to showcase their abilities. For us, our preparations are intensifying, and we believe we will have a strong performance.”

The Yanga coach added, “Arriving in South Africa has been crucial for us as we prepare for the 2024/25 season.

“Playing against a team from the Bundesliga [2-1 loss to Augsburg in a friendly] is part of our strategy to promote the club both in Africa and globally.”

Yanga will go on to participate in their domestic Community Shield, with first round qualification matches for the CAF Champions League against Burundi’s Vital’O scheduled for 16-18 and 23-25 August.
