Guinea succumbed to a 3-0 defeat to the United States of America (USA) at the Paris 2024 Olympics in the Men’s Football Tournament on Tuesday.
The defeat at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard saw the Young National Elephants bow out of the tournament having lost all of their three matches in Group A.
It took just 14 minutes for the Young Stars and Stripes to break the deadlock as Djordje Mihailovic hit the back of the net to hand his side a 1-0 lead.
Kevin Paredes, who was a constant threat to the Guinea defence, then doubled the USA’s lead in the 31st minute with a decent finish and the score was 2-0 at the interval.
The second-half saw Paredes continue to torment the African side’s defence and he grabbed his brace in the 75th minute to make it 3-0 to the Young Stars and Stripes.
The goal sealed the USA’s well-deserved 3-0 victory over Guinea and the Young Stars and Stripes progressed to the quarter-finals.
