Yadah FC head coach Thomas Ruzive is confident that Khama Billiat can hit the 20-goal mark in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League this season – a feat that hasn’t been achieved in 14 years.
The 33-year-old forward is currently the joint-top scorer in the league alongside CAPS United’s William Manondo with nine goals thanks to a purple patch.
Billiat, who joined the Miracle Boys as a free agent in February, has made a major impact on the team, lifting them up to ninth in the standings after scoring five goals in his last six outings.
Norman Maroto was the last player to register 20 or more goals in a season when he found the back of the net 22 times in 2010, and Ruzive is backing the former Zimbabwe international to match that tally.
“As a coach, I am giving him (Billiat) the target of being the top goalscorer come the end of the season. And I think he can get to 20 goals,” Ruzive declared.
“Next, we are playing Simba Bhora. And they are difficult to play against at home, so it’s a trick tie.”
