Egypt will tussle it out with hosts France in the Men’s Football Tournament semi-final match at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Monday.
Kick-off is at 21h00 CAT.
The match will be played at Stade de Lyon in a commune in the Metropolis of Lyon in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in eastern France called Décines-Charpieu.
The Young Pharaohs of Egypt reached this stage of the tournament after securing a 5-4 win over Paraguay on penalties after a 1-1 draw in a quarter-final match on 2 August.
Egypt are undefeated in their last six matches across all competitions having recorded five victories and one draw.
Ibrahim Adel – who plies his trade in the Egyptian Premier League for Pyramids – is the Egypt player to watch out for having netted three goals in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Meanwhile, France booked their spot in the semi-finals after claiming a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Argentina in a quarter-final match on 2 August.
As a result, the Young Blues are undefeated in their last 10 matches across all competitions having recorded eight victories and two draws.
One of France’s key players is Jean-Philippe Mateta of Crystal Palace in England and the forward is France’s top scorer at the Paris 2024 Olympics with two goals.
The last meeting between Egypt and France was 40 years ago.
France emerged as 2-0 winners over Egypt in a quarter-final match at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympics.
