African champions Al Ahly have moved swiftly to extend Egypt international Amr El Solia’s contract.
The veteran midfielder has been linked with Saudi Arabian and Libyan clubs with his previous contract with Al Ahly set to expire at the end of this month.
However, the Egyptian champions have announced that El Solia, 34, has been handed a contract extension as the club ties him down for another season.
“Amir Tawfik, CEO of Al-Ahly Football Company and Contracting Manager, announced the renewal of Al-Ahly player Amr El-Sulaya’s contract for one season,” a club statement read.
“He said that the player signed the contracts and completed all necessary procedures in this regard.”
El Solia is the first player to score in three CAF Champions League Finals, after scoring in the 2018 CAF Champions League Final against Espérance de Tunis, 2020 CAF Champions League Final against Zamalek and in the 2021 CAF Champions League Final against Kaizer Chiefs.
Boasting 52 caps and one goal for Egypt, he featured in the 2021 AFCON final match against Senegal.
