New Esperance de Tunis winger Elias Mokwana has divulged why he snubbed South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.
The Bafana Bafana international recently joined Tunisian champions Esperance on a three-year from South African top-tier side Sekhukhune United.
This is despite having attracted interest from the Premier Soccer League’s successful club, Sundowns and South Africa’s most popular football club, Chiefs.
“There were some teams that wanted me like [Mamelodi] Sundowns and [Kaizer] Chiefs, but for myself, I wanted to move away from home to get more exposure,” Mokwana said.
“We all know in Africa that Esperance is one of the biggest clubs in the world. So, I just wanted to come here to experience it and give my all. I’m a winner.
“I’m a player that likes to play on the line, take on the defenders, create opportunities for my teammates and score some goals for myself.”
Mokwana could make his official debut for Esperance in the CAF Champions League next month.
