Ceramica Cleopatra have won a second successive Egyptian League Cup title after they defeated Tala’ea El Gaish 3-1 on Wednesday night at 30 June Stadium.

John Ebuka scored the opening goal for Ceramica after 13 minutes, but El Gaish levelled shortly before half time via Karim Tarek.

El Gaish were reduced to 10 men 15 minutes into the second half when Ahmed Abdelrahman was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.

Ceramica regained the lead in the 71st minute through Mohamed Tony, and Ahmed Belhadji scored the third goal to secure a well-deserved win.

“I am very happy after winning this title. It is always difficult to win a final,” said Ceramica manager Ayman El Ramady.

“The players have been amazing and put on a heroic performance. Abdelrahman’s red card was the turning point in the game and gave us a huge advantage. It is a perfect ending to a very long season.”

Ceramica Cleopatra is now the most successful club in the Egyptian League Cup competition, having won two of the three editions since its inception in 2021.

Mohamed Ibrahim, Ceramica’s captain, reflected on his team’s triumph: “It is an amazing feeling to defend our title and secure our place in the Egyptian Super Cup.

“It is a massive step in our club’s history and gives us more confidence. I would like to thank everyone associated with the club for their amazing support.”

Ceramica will play the Egyptian Premier League winners in the Egyptian Super Cup, which will be held in Abu Dhabi next September.
