Saturday’s first round qualification action in the CAF Confederation Cup was headlined by a massive win for Mozambique’s Black Bulls, while the likes of Stellenbosch FC (South Africa) and Bravos do Maquis (Angola) also took major strides toward the next stage.

Black Bulls trounced Comoros’ Aluze Fort 7-0 ‘away’ in Maputo – with seven different goal scorers, kicked off by Hammed Jeleel and closed out by Ejaita Ifoni – and can already begin making plans for a second round tie against either 15 de Agosto (Equatorial Guinea) or AS Otoho (Congo) – whose first-leg meeting in Malabo was postponed.

Stellenbosch FC, in their first foray into African club competition, claimed an emphatic 3-0 away win over Nsingizini Hotspurs (Eswatini) in Durban, thanks to goals from Andre De Jong, Devon Titus and Fawaaz Basadien.

Bravos do Maquis trounced Tanzania’s Coastal Union 3-0 in Lubango courtesy of strikes from Joaquim Paciencia, Emmanuel Macayobo and Luis Manico.

Nigeria’s El Kanemi Warriors salvaged a 1-1 draw in Sagamu against Dadje FC (Benin), with the hosts needing an injury-time equaliser at the end of the game from Gimba Ajiji, while Foresters MF (Seychelles) and Orapa United (Botswana) also played out a 1-1 draw in Saint Pierre.

In the late kick-offs, CS Constantine overpowered Rwandan visitors Police FC 2-0 in Algeria thanks to strikes from Brahim Dib anTosin Omoyele, while Union de Touarga (Morocco) and RC Abidjan (Ivory Coast) played out a 0-0 stalemate in Rabat.

The first round continues through Sunday, headlined by regional derbies such as Dynamos FC (Zimbabwe) v ZESCO United (Zambia), Administration Police (Kenya) v Ethiopian Coffee (Ethiopia) and Hafia FC (Guinea) v Rahimo FC (Burkina Faso).
