Remo Stars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede has no intentions of sitting back against AS FAR in the second leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary first-round tie on Sunday.
The Sky Blue Stars recorded a 2-1 win in Sagamu at the weekend to avenge the defeat they suffered at the hands of the Militarians in the CAF Confederation Cup two seasons ago.
Goals from Nduka Junior (19′) and Sodiq Ismail (67′) handed Ogunmodede’s side a slender advantage ahead of the return leg at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, although Joel Beya’s 50th-minute reply gave the Moroccan giants hope.
Ogunmodede admits he needs to work on their transition from attack to defence and insists he will take the fight to the hosts in a bid to reach the second round of the continental competition for the first time in the club’s history.
“We were poor in the first 10 minutes of the second half, conceding a goal, which isn’t ideal. However, we’re thrilled to secure the three points, aware that conceding a goal makes the second leg more challenging,” he said.
“We came back slowly in defence in the first leg , and it almost cost us. We need to work on that. We’re going to Morocco to try to attack and improve our transition to defence.”
