Former Everton Chief Executive Officer Keith Wyness believes that the Saudi Pro League have intentions of making Mohamed Salah the poster boy of their budding sporting project.
Salah’s immediate future was the talk of English football over the course of the last two seasons, after the Egyptian attracted big-money interest from Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad.
While it was reported that Liverpool rejected a £215 million bid for their talisman last season, Wyness believes that Salah will eventually head to the Middle East at the end of his current deal.
“I still think Mohamed Salah will go,” Wyness told Football Insider.
“I could be completely wrong, but when I’ve been in Saudi recently – I’ve seen the clamour for him to come.
“Ronaldo has probably got another season after this, so they’ll want Salah in as the face of the league.
“I could be wrong and it may not be possible, but I think Liverpool would be better off cashing in on him with one year left.
“Saudi Arabia have got their TV rights coming up soon and if Salah came, the Egyptian rights would go through the roof.
“There are a lot of reasons it makes sense.”
