Ivory Coast star set to join Atalanta

Highly rated Ivory Coast defender Odilon Kossounou is reportedly on the verge of signing for Serie A outfit Atalanta after attracting interest from the Premier League.

According to various reports in English football media, the likes of Wolves and Leicester City have been keeping tabs on the Bayern Leverkusen defenders’ progress in the last couple of weeks.

However, according to Sky Germany correspondent, Florian Plettenberg, the 23-year-old will now join Atalanta on a season loan in a deal worth €5 million.

It’s said that the deal includes an option to buy, which can be turned into a purchase obligation if the criteria of the contract are reached throughout the 2024/25 campaign.

“Total agreement between Atalanta Bergamo and Leverkusen about a permanent deal of Odilon Kossounou has been reached now total verbal agreement is also done!,” Plettenberg revealed on X.

“One-year-loan. Option to buy can turn into an obligation to buy (easy to achieve) Loan fee: €5m. Total package of €30m.

“If everything goes according to plan, 23 y/o is supposed to have his medical on Wednesday.”
