Egypt captain Mohamed Salah has stated that “nobody in the club” has discussed a fresh deal with him.
The world-class winger was speaking after grabbing a goal and two assists to inspire the Reds to a 3-0 win over Manchester United in Sunday’s English Premier League blockbuster clash.
Salah has entered the final nine months of his contract with Liverpool and the 32-year-old has indicated that he is open to extending his stay at the six-time European champions.
“To be fair I was coming to the game [as if] it could be the last time [playing at Old Trafford]. Nobody in the club has talked to me about contracts. It is not up to me, it is up to the club,” Salah said on The Guardian.
“As you know, it’s my last year in the club. I just want to enjoy it, I don’t want to think about it. I feel I’m free to play football and let’s see what’s going to happen next year.”
Salah has become an influential player under new Liverpool manager Arne Slot – scoring three goals and providing three assists from three Premier League games this term.
He will captain Egypt as they take on Cape Verde on 6 September and Botswana on 10 September in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
