Al Rayyan sign Trezeguet on loan

Qatari club Al Rayyan have secured the services of Egyptian international Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet on loan from Turkish club Trabzonspor.

The 30-year-old winger scored one goal in seven appearances for Trabzonspor this season, before agreeing to a move which sees him join a club that has long held interest in signing him.

“Thank you to my amazing team and the incredible fans for all the unforgettable memories on and off the field,” Trezeguet wrote on his Facebook page.

“It has been an honour to wear this jersey and represent this club. I will always cherish the time spent here and the bonds formed with my teammates and the supporters.”

The Pharaohs star joined Trabzonspor in the summer of 2022 and established himself as one of the club’s key players, registering 25 goals and 16 assists in his 76 appearances.

The winger added, “Though my journey with this team may be coming to an end, my love for you and the gratitude I have for this club will never fade.

“Thank you all for the endless support and for making this experience truly special. Goodbye, but not farewell.”

Trezeguet replaced Moroccan international Sofiane Boufal (who was released by the club by mutual consent) and after finalising his transfer, has joined the Egyptian national team preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Pharaohs will start their journey in the qualifiers on Friday at home against Cape Verde before travelling to face Botswana, four days later.
