The 2025 AFCON will be the 35th edition of the biennial continental tournament organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and will be held in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.


Qualifying for the tournament will take place in three ‘blocks’ in September (Matchday 1 & 2), October (Matchday 3 & 4) and November (Matchday 5 & 6) of 2024. The top two teams in each qualifying group will advance to the AFCON tournament.


Matchday 1 and 2 fixtures are taking place from Wednesday 4 September to Tuesday 10 September 2024.

20h06: Full-time: Ghana 0 Angola 1 (Milson 90+3′)


Angola pull off a smash and grab as they pick up a crucial three points on the road in the opening match of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign after Ghana showed plenty of intent but just could not make the breakthrough.


19h59: Ghana v Angola – Goal! Milson makes makes an impact off the bench as he breaks Ghanaian hearts with a potential stoppage-time winner for the Black Sable Antelopes.


20h00 – CAR 3-1 Lesotho: Full-time


Despite having the bulk of the possession count in the second-half, Lesotho were unable to cause notable damage to the CAR backline as the clock began to expire. Nevertheless, CAR held their nerve to secure their first victory of the 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign.


19h55 – Full-Time: Guinea-Bissau 1-0 Eswatini


A first-half goal by Bura earned African Wild Dogs the win over Sihlangu Semnikati on matchday one of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers – group stage . The two teams will both be in action on Tuesday as Guinea-Bissau take on Mozambique away, while Eswatini host Mali in South Africa.


19h51: Ghana v Angola – The visitors stymie another attack as Kudus sees his goal-bound shot from inside the box deflected behind for a corner.


19h48 – CAR 3-1 Lesotho: With it being Central African Republic’s turn to play under the cosh, Lesotho dominated on the ball after the 80th minute mark while the Wild Beasts being content at kicking into game-management mode.


19h44: Ghana v Angola – The hosts keep pushing for the opener and Jordan Ayew is denied this time by the defender, who gets an important block on his shot from inside the box.


19h40 – Guinea-Bissau 1-0 Eswatini: Coach Luis Boa Mort has refreshed Guinea-Bissau defence by introducing Sambinha as we enter the final 10 minutes of the match.


19h29 CAR 3-1 Lesotho: GOAL!


Central African Republic restored their two goal advantage moments after the hour-mark as Goduine Koyalipou capped off a swift passing move into the 18-yard-area.


19h26: Ghana v Angola – Antoine Semenyo comes close to breaking the deadlock, but Neblu pulls off a smart save to push his shot behind for a corner.


19h25: CAR 2-1 Lesotho: GOAL!


Despite a largely disappointing first-half, Lesotho are not resting on their laurels drew one goal back 10 minutes after the restart with Motebang Sera joining Mafouta on the scoreboard.


19h25 – Guinea-Bissau 1-0 Eswatini – Sihlangu Semnikati continue to push for the equalising goal, but the African Wild Dogs’ defence looks solid and impenetrable so far as we pass the hour-mark.

19h06: CAR 2-0 Lesotho: The referee has just introduced the second-half at Stade El Abdi.


19h05 – Guinea-Bissau 1-0 Eswatini – The second-half is underway and the hosts will be looking to double their lead.

CAR ended the half on a confident note and bossed the possession count moments before the referee called time on the first 45. Lesotho were often seen chasing shadows in an attempt to regain the ball but were largely unsuccessful in doing so.

18h33: Ghana v Angola – It’s still goalless at the half-hour mark, although the Black Stars have looked the better of the two teams in Kumasi.


18h32 – Guinea-Bissau 1-0 Eswatini: The African Wild Dogs continue to dominate possession as they look to double their lead as we pass the half-hour mark.


18h31: CAR 2-0 Lesotho: GOAL!


The Wild Beasts doubled their advantage midway through the first-half, with Mafouta causing all kinds of problems going forward. Following a swift passing move toward the 18-yard-area, Mofouta spotted the onrushing goalkeeper who was making his way toward the edge of the box before guiding the ball toward an empty net.


18h21: CAR 1-0 Lesotho: As the dust settles in El Jadida, Lesotho are beginning to see more of the ball and look tidy in possession, particularly during build-up phases from defensive positions.

With the match underway at Stade El Abdi, Central Africa Republic immediately went on the attack and took the lead in the first minute of the game as Lousi Mafouta added his name to the scoresheet.
