The 2025 AFCON will be the 35th edition of the biennial continental tournament organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and will be held in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
Qualifying for the tournament will take place in three ‘blocks’ in September (Matchday 1 & 2), October (Matchday 3 & 4) and November (Matchday 5 & 6) of 2024. The top two teams in each qualifying group will advance to the AFCON tournament.
Matchday 1 and 2 fixtures are taking place from Wednesday 4 September to Tuesday 10 September 2024.

23:05 – Full-time. Senegal 1-1 Burkina Faso. The Lions of Teranga are dealt a sucker punch at the death as Ousseni Bouda pops up in the 95th minute to score a dramatic equaliser for the Stallions to earn them a vital point on the road.
23:03 – Full-time. Mali 1-1 Mozambique. The Eagles have to settle for a point in their opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on home soil.
23:02 – Full time. Ivory Coast 2-0 Zambia. A winning start for Ivory Coast, with the Elephants next in action on Tuesday 10 September against Chad, while Chipolopolo will want to bounce back at home to Sierra Leone on the same day.
23:00 – Full time. Morocco 4-1 Gabon. An emphatic win for 2025 AFCON hosts Morocco, who will next play Lesotho in Agadir on Monday 9 Sepetmber. Gabon will aim to bounce back on Tuesday 10 September at home to CAR.
22:56 – Full-Time. Egypt 3-0 Cape Verde. Goals from Rabia (23′), Marmoush (45+1′) and Adel (70′) earned the Pharaohs a well-deserved win in a Group C encounter played in Cairo. Both teams will be in action on Tuesday as Egypt take on Botswana in Francistown, while Cape Verde lock horns with Mauritania in Praia.
22:52 – Goal! Ivory Coast 2-0 Zambia. Points in the bag (surely) for Ivory Coast, as Krasso nets a second to make it 2-0.
22:48 – Goal! Morocco 4-1 Gabon. Ayoub El Kaabi adds to Morocco’s advantage in Agadir.
22:42 – Goal! Ivory Coast 1-0 Zambia. Finally a goal in Bouake, where Jean-Philippe Krasso has put the Elephants ahead.
22:32 – Goal! Egypt 3-0 Cape Verde. 23-year-old Ibrahim Adel extends the lead, with the visitors’ defence exposed in the 70th minute.
22:27 – Ivory Coast 0-0 Zambia. Past the hour mark in Bouake, still goalless.
22:25 – Egypt 2-0 Cape Verde. Benchimol and Laros Duarte have been introduced by coach Bubista as the visitors look to pull one back as we pass the hour-mark.
22:24 – Goal! Morocco 3-1 Gabon. Brahim Diaz scores (for the first goal that’s not a penalty in this match) and Morocco extend their lead to 3-1.
22:17 – Goal! Mali 1-1 Mozambique. Yves Bissouma draws the Eagles level as he collects the ball from Fode Doucoure and tucks his shot past Ernan Siluane in the 52nd minute.

19:16 – Goal! South Africa 1-2 Uganda. Another long range strike, this time from Rogers Mato, puts the Cranes into the lead! It’s a shocking piece of goalkeeping from Bafana’s Veli Mothwa, who should have made a comfortable save but allowed the ball to skid through his hands!
19:14 – Goal! South Africa 1-1 Uganda. Denis Omedi scores a brilliant long-range goal to draw the Cranes level with Bafana Bafana!
