Ghana’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign got off to an agonising start after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday, September 5.

The Black Stars created the majority of the chances in Kumasi, but they were undone in the third minute of stoppage time when Milson scored an unlikely winner for Pedro Goncalves’ side.

Otto Addo was taking charge of his third competitive match since returning to the helm in March and the hosts made a bright start as Antoine Semenyo let fly with a shot that drift just wide of the goal on five minutes.

Neblu made the first noteworthy save of the evening after Mohammed Kudus unleashed a venomous shot on target in the 36th minute and he was called into action again early in the second half to palm Semenyo’s effort behind for a corner on 58 minutes.

The defence then came to his rescue in the 77th minute as Jordan Ayew saw his shot blocked after beating the goalkeeper and Kudus was also denied eight minutes later when his goal-bound attempt deflected behind for a corner.

However, heartbreak was to follow soon afterwards as substitute Milson popped up in added time with the winning goal to snatch three precious points for the Black Sable Antelopes.
