Enugu Rangers and US Monastir recorded victories in the CAF Champions League second preliminary round matches on Friday.
A late goal by Kazeem Ogunleye propelled Rangers to a narrow 1-0 victory over Angolan side Sagrada Esperança at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria.
The Nigerian outfit will now travel to Angola to take on Esperança in the second-leg encounter that is scheduled to be played at the Estadio 11 de Novembro on 22 September.
Meanwhile, Monastir had to dig deep for a 1-0 victory over Algerian giants MC Alger courtesy of Fourat Soltani’s first-half goal at the Stade Hammadi El Agrebi in Tunis, Tunisia.
Alger will now play host to their Tunisian opposition at the Ali La Pointe Stadium in Algiers on 22 September in a highly-anticipated encounter between two North African teams.
The winners on aggregate or penalties will progress to the lucrative group stage.
