CS Sfaxien and Dynamos have a slender advantage in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary second round after scoring away goals in the first leg, while ASEC Mimosas need to overturn a deficit.
Cristo’s 14th-minute goal handed CS Sfaxien a 1-0 win over Rukinzo at the Taieb Mhiri Stadium on Sunday which was an “away” game for them despite playing in their hometown.
Bravos do Maquis left it very late to beat Saint-Eloi Lupopo 1-0 at the Estadio Nacional da Tundavala. where Francisco Matoco scored the winning goal in the 95th minute.
Meanwhile, ASEC Mimosas have some work to do if they hope to qualify for the group stages after suffering a 2-1 defeat to ASC Kara at the Stade de Kegue.
Early second-half goals from Antoine Agbetogon (55′) and Akoro Bilali (59′) put the hosts in the driver’s seat, although Abdul Razack Cisse’s 93rd-minute reply kept Les Mimos alive in the tie.
Elsewhere, Dynamos ran out narrow 1-0 victors over Orapa United at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium, Al Hilal Benghazi edged Al Masry 3-2 at the Benina Martyrs Stadium and Simba held Al Ahli Tripoli to a 0-0 draw at the Tripoli Stadium.
