Amad Diallo is brimming with confidence after a fine start to the season saw him voted Manchester United’s Player of the Month for August.
The Ivory Coast international has gone from strength to strength since recovering from a knee injury that sidelined him out for the first half of the 2023-24 campaign.
Diallo etched his name into United folklore with his last-gasp winner against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals last term as Erik ten Hag’s side went on to lift the trophy.
The 22-year-old winger opened his account for 2024-25 with the equaliser in a 2-1 defeat to Brighton on August 24 and has made nine appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils.
Diallo is determined to build on his early-season form and expressed his gratitude to the club’s supporters for giving him the belief to step up and deliver some eye-catching displays.
“I’m so happy to start like this and I want to step up and continue like this until the end of the season,” he said in an exclusive interview with United.
“I’m in a good moment. I’m confident and the Player of the Month, I was so happy to have it. As I said before, I want to step up and continue like this.
“The fans give me a lot of love and I want to thank them for the love and for giving me confidence. Even when I was not playing, they wanted to give me confidence, to give me the love and to bring me the energy. I’m so happy to have the fans with the team and I want to thank them again.
“I have a good relationship with everyone really. We’ve got good energy, the team is focused to do more until the end of the season, and we take every game like a final. So we’re ready to fight again.”
