West Ham manager Julien Lopetegui has provided an explanation regarding Mohammed Kudus’ half-time substitution during their 1-1 draw with Brentford in the Premier League last week.
It was widely reported that Lopetegui and the Ghanaian attacker had a fallout in the dressing room during the half-time break at the Gtech Community Stadium.
While it was said that Kudus did not ‘react well’ to his substitution, Lopetegui insisted that his decision was purely down to tactical reasons.
“Again, it’s important the team plays well, rather than one or two players. Football is a collective game, and the only way I know to be able to be strong is to play as a team,” Lopetegui said in a recent presser, as per Give Me Sport.
“It was for tactical reasons. The second half we worked as a team, and for me this is a very important step.
“I highlighted the behaviour in the second half because I think we put on the pitch what we needed.”
