Ghana head coach Otto Addo has been dealt a blow ahead of the crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Sudan after four players withdrew from his squad through injury.

Thomas Partey was forced off in the closing stages of Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Southampton on Saturday and will undergo further tests this week to discern the extent of his injury.

Joseph Painstil went off with a hamstring issue towards the end of LA Galaxy’s 2-1 victory against Austin FC on Sunday and is scheduled for an MRI scan.

Feyenoord winger Osman Ibrahim sustained a calf injury in the 2-1 triumph over FC Twente on Sunday, having been substituted in the 65th minute which led to his withdrawal for the two Group F encounters.

Meanwhile, Samsunspor winger Kingsley Schindler is also unavailable as he is being treated for an unspecified medical problem he suffered in the 3-1 success against Adana Demirspor on Sunday.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that Michael Baidoo, Abu Francis, Jonas Adjetey and Ibrahim Sadick received call-ups in place of the injured quartet.

Addo’s side play host to the Falcons of Jediane on Thursday before heading to Benghazi for the return leg next Monday.
