Liverpool FC manager Arne Slot has jokingly stated that Mohamed Salah is competing with Trent Alexander-Arnold in the right-back position.
This comes after the Egyptian superstar produced an eye-catching display as the Reds claimed a 2-1 victory over Chelsea FC in Sunday’s English Premier League blockbuster clash at Anfield.
Salah grabbed a goal and an assist while also being influential in defence as the 32-year-old winger tracked back to help Alexander-Arnold who is considered among the best right-backs in the world.
“The good thing is that normally if someone asks a question about Mo Salah it’s always about his contract, so now it’s nice that you just asked me how important he is,” Slot said on the Liverpool website.
“He is important for us for the numbers he has… it was a bit of a funny remark after the game, I said to Trent [Alexander-Arnold], you have some competition now because I saw today that Mo can play as a right full-back as well!
“The defensive effort he put in today to help the team in that part is what pleased me just as much as his goal and assist.
Salah has now scored five goals and provided five assists in eight Premier League matches for Liverpool this season.
