Fenerbahce midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has given insights into why his dream move to Manchester United failed to materialize after the 2023/24 campaign.

The Moroccan star joined the Red Devils on loan from Fiorentina for the 23/24 season and impressed during the latter stages of the campaign, particularly during the club’s FA Cup triumph over Manchester City earlier this year.

While he openly spoke of his desires to join United permanently, the 28-year-old revealed that Red Devils’ Technical Director Jason Wilcox had other ideas.

“I have a special relationship with Ten Hag since I was a 20-year-old at Utrecht,” Amrabat told the Mail,” as per Manchester Evening News.

“He wanted to keep me this summer so I wish him the best but not for Thursday. I hope they lose.”

“The only thing that I want to say is that you have to ask Mr Wilcox.”
