Sudan and Benin found themselves under the spotlight during the latest round of 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and secured their spot in next year’s showpiece following stalemates in their respective matchday six assignments.
First off, Benin booked their spot in the 2025 AFCON in nervy fashion following a 0-0 draw with Libya at the 11 June Stadium on Monday evening.
The result saw Benin finish 2nd in Group D, level on points with Rwanda (8). However, the Cheetahs boasted a superior goal difference over Rwanda, which ultimately aided their progression to the 2025 AFCON showpiece.
However, in what was one of the results of the latest round of qualifying action, Rwanda managed to record a memorable 2-1 win against Group D leaders Nigeria at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Monday night.
Elsewhere, Sudan scraped their way into 2nd position in Group F after a 0-0 stalemate with Angola at the Martyrs of February Stadium. The Falcons of Jediane needed to avoid defeat against Angola to qualify for the upcoming AFCON and finished one point ahead of Niger, who bagged a 2-1 win against Ghana at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Then, Morocco ended their final Group B assignment with a one-sided 7-0 win against Lesotho at the Honneur Stadium on Monday night.
The Atlas Lions oversaw a perfect Group B campaign with six victories to their name, accompanied by a mammoth +24 goal difference after their final fixture.
