With the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League reaching its concluding phase, TP Mazembe and FAR Rabat made sure to book their spot in the tournament’s final on Tuesday night.
TP Mazembe were made to work for their final berth this week after recording a 3-1 win over Edo Queens at Stade Larbi Zaouli. Edo Queens took the lead in the 64th minute as Emmem Essien put the Congolese side ahead following a largely dominant period of play.
However, Mervielle Kajinga levelled matters in the 84th minute, which subsequently forced the game into extra time. Nevertheless, an own goal, followed by Marlene Kasaj’s 108th minute penalty was enough to see TP Mazembe triumph over their Nigerian counterparts.
Then, FAR Rabat continued their 100% win record in this year’s edition of the showpiece with a 2-1 victory against Masar at Stade El Abdi.
In what was another drama-filled semi-final, Safa Banouk put Rabat ahead in the 12th minute, which was cancelled out in the 97th minute of the match as Maya Abouelwafa Abdelrazek held her nerve from the spot.
With the game heading toward extra-time, Rabat broke Masar hearts as Doha El Madani scored the winning goal two minutes later.
FAR Rabat and TP Mazembe will now battle it out for the CAF Women’s Champions League crown at Stade El Abdi on Saturday, 23 November.
Masar and Edo Queens are scheduled to square off in the match for 3rd place at Stade El Abdi on Friday, 22 November.
