Egypt captain Mohamed Salah set a new English Premier League record during Wednesday’s clash between Liverpool FC and Newcastle United.

The world-class winger grabbed a brace and an assist as the Reds drew 3-3 with the Magpies in an enthralling match played at St James’ Park.

It was the 37th time that Salah had scored and assisted in a Premier League match and he became the first player to do this since the competition was established in 1992.

“37 – Mohamed Salah has now scored and assisted in more Premier League matches than any other player, with tonight the 37th time in his career he has done so. Unparalleled,” an Opta Joe statement read.

Salah’s brace also saw him become the new Premier League top scorer having hit the back of the net 13 times in 14 matches for Liverpool this season.

He has also provided eight assists and only Bukayo Saka of Arsenal has more assists (10).
