Chiefs humbled as Galaxy extend unbeaten run

TS Galaxy continued their good form in the Betway Premiership as Kaizer Chiefs’ struggles in the South African top-flight continued.


The action started on Friday as Bradley Grobler scored the only goal of the match to inspire SuperSport United to a 1-0 win over Richards Bay in Durban and the Tshwane giants climbed up to the eighth spot in the standings.


Three matches were played on Saturday with 11th-placed Galaxy stretching their unbeaten run to four matches when they claimed a 1-0 win over AmaZulu FC courtesy of Puso Dithejane’s beautiful goal in Mbombela.


In Bloemfontein, Marumo Gallants made it back-to-back wins when they defeated Magesi FC 3-1, while Keletso Makgalwa’s second-half goal earned Sekhukhune United a 1-0 victory over Cape Town City in Polokwane.


Lastly, Polokwane City moved up to the third spot in the standings – four points behind leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns after securing an impressive 2-0 win over Chiefs on Sunday – leaving Amakhosi in the ninth spot in the table.
