Despite achieving significant success with Magesi, including leading the newly-promoted Betway Premiership side to their first-ever title, coach Clinton Larsen unexpectedly announced his resignation during a live television broadcast following the team’s Carling Cup loss to the All-Star team.

Larsen cited team fatigue and the challenges of consecutive away games as contributing factors to his decision.

“Our players looked tired. It has been very difficult and we have played seven away games in a row,” he said on SuperSport TV.

He expressed gratitude to the players, technical staff, supporters, and club chairman for the opportunity to lead the team over the past two years.

“Time will tell how the players will take it. Some are going to be sad and some others are going to be happy. But they are strong, and they will continue to make the club proud.”

The coach emphasised his desire to provide the club with an opportunity for fresh leadership and new energy.

He highlighted two key achievements during his tenure: securing promotion to the PSL and winning the Carling Knockout trophy within just four months.

“I wish the club everything of the best going forward,” added Larsen.

In the match itself, Dikwena tsa Meetsi struggled against the All-Star team, suffering a 3-0 defeat at Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
