Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has made it known that they are going all out to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title.

The Pharaohs were pitted against Southern African sides South Africa, Angola and Zimbabwe in Group B during Monday’s draw in Morocco.

Egypt are the most successful nation in the history of AFCON having won a record seven titles, but the last time they won the trophy was in 2010.

“It is a strong group. All the African teams have progressed a lot as we have all seen recently,” Hassan, who won the 1986, 1998 and 2006 AFCON titles with Egypt as a striker, said on Ahramonline.

“This edition will be very tough as there are formidable opponents. We have a strong team led by Mohamed Salah, one of the world’s best players, along with Omar Marmoush, Mostafa Mohamed, and Trezeguet.

“With all due respect to the other teams, our goal is to clinch the title.”
