Motsepe: ‘African football is growing’

CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe believes that the upcoming TotatalEnergies 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament will cast the African continent in a positive light around the world.


With the draw for the 2025 AFCON now concluded, Motsepe is of the thought that African football is on the up following Morocco’s showing at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.


“We shall use the power of Football to show the rest of the World that African Football is growing,” Motsepe said, as per Cecafa online.


“One example was during the World Cup in Qatar when an African team Morocco made history and reached the semi-finals.


“All of us are confident the AFCON in Morocco will be the most competitive and successful.”


The AFCON showpiece, which will host 24 teams, is scheduled to commence on the 21st of December and will conclude on the 18th of January 2026.
