Sierra Leone legend Mohamed Kallon has broken his silence after being appointed as the head coach of the Leone Stars.

The former Inter Milan and AS Monaco striker’s appointment is part of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SAFL)’s “Concept 2027” initiative.

It aims to build a competitive national team through a long-term development strategy. Kallon stated that it is an honour to serve his country.

“I accept this job because it is for my country. It was not an easy decision; there were many factors to consider. However, here we are,” Kallon said.

“I am honoured to serve Sierra Leone. My love for my country drives me to take on this important responsibility.”

Kallon, who captained Sierra Leone during his playing days, will now lead the Leone Stars from the sidelines as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The UEFA Pro License holder’s debut match as head coach will be against Guinea-Bissau next month, followed by a challenging fixture against Egypt.
