Rwanda appoint Algerian coach ahead of Nigeria match

Algerian tactician Adel Amrouche has been appointed as the new head coach of the Rwandan national team, Amavubi.


The Rwandan Football Federation (FERWAFA) confirmed his appointment on Sunday after the experienced tactician signed a 24-month contract.


Amavubi are scheduled to face Nigeria on March 21, 2025, at the Amahoro Stadium, in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.


The match against the Super Eagles will be followed by another home fixture against Lesotho on March 25, 2025.


The FERWAFA also announced that Amrouch will be assisted by Eric Nshimiyimana and Dr. Carolin Braun.


The 56-year-old is a very nomadic tactician has previously handled Tanzania, Burundi, Botswana, Libya, Equatorial Guinea as well as Kenya.


He has also coached the Yemen national team before and worked for clubs in Africa and Europe.
