South Africa and Morocco remain unbeaten in the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations after both teams each played to draws against their respective opponents on Thursday.

Amajimbos played to a goalless draw against Cameroon in Group B, with the youthful Indomitable Lions dominating possession and having more efforts on goal but unable to convert.

“I think this wasn’t the plan, because we actually planned for three points,” said South Africa coach Vela Khumalo as per SAFA media.

“But we can take one. It’s one of those where we forget about it and never ever think about it. We were very flat and it’s because of the energy that we used against Egypt so we did not have enough energy to play today.”

The hosts Morocco were unable to replicate their dominant 5-0 display against Uganda when they faced Zambia in the late kick-off, also playing a goalless draw at the El Bachir Stadium in Group A.

Hamza Bouhaddi’s red card in the 75th minute didn’t make matters any easier for the Atlas Lions, as they had to hold on until the end of the match and prevent conceding.

The Ugandans had their redemption against Tanzania, beating them 3-0. Elsewhere, Egypt suffered another narrow defeat in Group B, as they were beaten 2-1 by Burkina Faso.
