Simba, Stellenbosch FC, RS Berkane and CS Constantine were the biggest winners during the CAF Confederations quarter-final phase this week as the competition’s final four makes for an exciting prospect.
Following a 2-2 aggregate score at the end of regulation time at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium, penalties were needed to separate Simba and Al Masry on Wednesday.
However, Simba held their nerve by converting all of their efforts while Mahmoud Hamada and Mido Gaber’s failed penalties ultimately led to Al Masry’s demise.
Over in Egypt, a pragmatic Stellenbosch FC ensured their spot in the CAF Confederations Cup final four following a hard-earned 1-0 win against Zamalek at the Cairo International Stadium on Wednesday.
With the game poised at 0-0 on aggregate from the first leg, Sihle Nduli’s 79th minute sank the two-time CAF Confederations Cup winners in their own backyard.
Elsewhere, double CAF Confederations Cup winners RSB Berkane recorded a 1-0 win against ASEC Mimosas at Stade Municipal de Berkane on Wednesday night.
Oussama Lamlaoui’s 76th minute effort added to RSB Berkane’s 1-0 aggregate lead from the first leg as the Ivory Coast based side had no answer to the Moroccans.
